Be careful removing your new plastic certificate from the sheet it's
glued to. My new one left part of Wilbur's face on the paper. He looks
like he has a monolith coming out of his nose...

I believe Wilbur's face is safely ensconced behind the laminate. The
monolith may just be a dark smudge left by the glue. You should be able to
scrape it off, leaving Wilbur intact.

This happened in my case, too. Simply scratching the black bar with my
fingernail removed it.

It'll come off by just rubbing with a tissue.
